Mother's Day Blog Hop

Welcome to the Mother's Day blog hop that is hosted by Nicolette.  A special thank you to Nicolette for hosting the fabulous hop!

I am very excited to be a part of this hop and share with you a few projects that I have made to celebrate all of the terrific Moms out there.  I am a Mother, as well as a Daughter and know how easy it is to overlook all the everyday things that Mom's do for the ones that they love.  I can only hope that my projects will inspire you to call your Mom (or at least make you smile).

The blog hop occurs over two days, but I will be posting several projects, so please be sure to check back often, or simply sign up over to the right to get email notifications when I post new items.

If you are just beginning the hop, you should start at the beginning ... Click HERE to start at Nicolette's blog.

If you are arriving from Brenna's blog (http://brennasblitherings.blogspot.com/) you are in the right place.

For my first projects for the hop, I'll be sharing a few Mother's Day cards that I made.

The first card that I created above uses DCWV papers.  I love the butterflies!
The sentiment on the front of the card is a digital stamp that I stumbled upon over at Digital Delights.  You too can pick it up HERE.
The second sentiment on the inside of the card is a traditional stamp that I purchased from Lili of the Valley.  As you can tell, I am a HUGE fan of circular sentiments.

For my second card, I also used DCWV papers.  This is the new Lemon stack.  I love it!
The sentiment is also one that I picked up over at Lili of the Valley stamps.
The small Happy Mother's Day stamp is something that I picked up over at Papertrey Ink.  They have some great items over there.

I hope that you have enjoyed my cards for today .. and the hop itself.

I'll be giving away some blog candy too!  I have a set of cute stamps that I picked up over at PaperTrey Ink that I'll be giving away the day after the hop.

It's the TINY TAGS stamp collection.  Super cute, isn't it???
You have a chance to win this cute stamp set if you do the following three things:

(1) If you are not already a follower of my blog, just do so now.
(2) Become a Fan on my FaceBook page HERE.
(3) Leave at least one comment on a post during the blog hop (4/30-5/1)

I'll use Random.org to chose a winner on May 2nd!

Good luck to all those who enter.

This is your last stop on the hop.  Thanks so much for sharing with all of us!

I hope that you are enjoying the hop, and please come back again soon.

Take care, and Happy Mother's day to ALL of the wonderful Mom's out there!

A few projects to share

Tip Junkie handmade projects

First off, I'll start with my Wednesday Design team project for Little Scraps of Heaven.

With Mother's Day around the corner I only felt it was appropriate to start honoring those that we love and who give so much every day.

I made this Mother's Day card with the bird from Gnome in My Garden set over at LSHD.
The tree branch file is a free file that I picked up HERE.

I really do like the simplicity of this card.  Most of my items are very detailed ... cluttered, in a sense, But I like it that way :)  However, I really liked this too :)

My second project is not a design team project, but something that is hopefully kickstarting me back into listing things on ebay.  If you happen to follow my items that I sell you've probably noticed that you haven't seen anything out there for a few weeks.   Well, last night I had a vision ... an inspiration ... and I stayed up WAY TOO Late in the evening to pull it together.  Oh ... but I am so happy that I did.  I really felt that was what I needed.  Perhaps just that idea in my head to make me motivated to see it on paper.  I don't even think I yawned the whole time creating it :)   This layout is using some of my new FAVORITE papers by Jillibean-soup.  This line is the Chilled Strawberry soup line and I just can't get enough of it  ... I think I may need a few more pieces.  It's one of those papers that I will truly be sad when it's gone.  MUST STOCK UP NOW .. he he

Here is the full two page layout

I used one of the Little Scraps of Heaven bear designs on this layout and just adjusted the positions to suit my needs.  The bear pattern can be found HERE.  I love the rough edged bear!

I hope that you have a great kick start to your weekend!
Take care all.

PS .. Keep an eye out for tomorrows post ... I have challenged the Design team to create something unique.  The Little Scraps of Heaven Facebook Fanpage will have the details tomorrow.

Monday Design team project

I feel like life has gotten hectic .... well, frantic actually.   I don't know what happened but sometime in the last two weeks I feel like I have not been able to keep up with anything!  That includes the normal laundry, cooking, cleaning as well as crafting, time with the kids, phone calls home and all of that.   I've been in a personal slump lately.  Having some child behavioral problems, missing home, and just feeling overwhelmed.  Well, this week I am going to change all of it!

I am going to be a positive person!  I will be happy and get back into my crafting on a regular basis!

When I bought this line of paper that I used in my project today it really made me smile.  I love strawberries.  And I LOVE working with Kraft paper.  What better combination that a printed line of paper that is on Kraft paper!  I've never seen that before, but I LOVE it.   The paper line is from Jillbean-soup and you can head over to their site HERE to check out all they have to offer.

For today's project I've created an Easel card.  I just love this design of these cards (as you probably can tell from all my projects that use them).  This card makes me smile!  I did not put in a sentiment yet, as nothing particular jumped out at me.  But I can see sending this card as a thank you card, a cheer up card, or simply a thinking of you card.

I hope that you enjoy it.  Be sure to head on over to the Little Scraps of Heaven Design team blog to see my other teammates projects for today!

I used the Bear holding Balloons single file pattern from LSHD for this project.  I just love this bear, it is SO versatile!

Monochromatic Challenge

Happy Easter to all.  I hope that you are enjoying this beautiful day with your family.

For Friday's Little Scraps of Heaven's Design team challenge it was my turn to challenge the team.
I decided to challenge everyone to create something Monochromatic.  They had to use the same color family for their project, excluding the paper piecing.

I chose to make an easel card.  This actually started off as a tag, but as I completed the tag, I felt that it needed more, so I made it into a card.  We have some babies expected to arrive in our family in the next few months, and this would be perfect for the occasions!

I used the Blessed Bear pattern over at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.  It's only $1.00!  So head on over there and grab it while you can.

I'd also like to share something with you that is going on over at LSHD right now.

--------------------------------------------------

St. Jude's Ride for a Cure

Tricia over at LSHD daughter's have been asked to participate in a St. Jude's Ride for a Cure Horse Ride.  They need a sponsor for their ride so Little Scraps of Heaven will be sponsoring them.
To raise money LSHD is donating all proceeds of this pattern to St. Jude Hospital for this ride.
So between now and May 14th (the day of the ride) 100% of this pattern's sale will go to St. Jude Hospital.

Thanks for your contribution.

A few design team projects to share

I've had a few design team projects come up that I have yet to post about.  It's been pretty busy around the homefront ... a sick little boy :(  It truly breaks my heart that he has been so sad, yet unable to tell me whats wrong.  The good news is that it looks like it is uphill from here.   I can only hope that is the case!

For my Monday project this week, I created a scrapbook embellishment.  This could easily fit on a layout or even be placed on a gift bag.  Unfortunately the inspiration for this was the rainy weather here in Seattle.  It really takes some getting used to!

For this project, I used a digital stamp that I grabbed for FREE over at the Little Scraps of Heaven Blog.  I colored the image in Copics and added some flowers for some dimension.  I also colored the flowers in copics as well.

The second project that I have to share is a birthday card.  I made this card for a friend of my son's who we will be celebrating with tomorrow.  I sure hope he likes the monkey!

I thought it looked kind of perfect for a 5 year old!

For this project, I used the Monkey single pattern file from Little Scraps of Heaven.  I also tested out some new paper and stamps that I discovered at Papertrey Ink.  I really am loving the selection of stamps and dies that they have over there.  I have a feeling I'm in trouble :)  Good for them, bad for me! he he

I hope that you've enjoyed my projects!
Have a restful evening.

LSHD Design Team Challenge day

It's Friday already!
How did that happen?  I swear this week went by crazy fast!  I've been dealing with a lot of commotion on the home front here, but I am surviving!

I've been looking forward to pulling this together all week, and believe it or not I just did!  I threw together this cute little gift bag for the Little Scraps of Heaven Design team challenge today.

The challenge this week was "Playful Paws" with embossing.  We needed to use a creature from a LSHD pattern, and use embossing in some way shape or form.

I used two pattern sets.
1- Black Bear Collection
2 - Daisy Flower

I used embossing in two ways as well.
1- I embossed the sentiment which was a stamp from Just Rite stamps called "Seeds of Kindness"
2 - I used my versa mark pencil to enhance the center of the flower.

Be sure to check out my other teammates take on this challenge over at the Little Scraps of Heaven Facebook fan page.

You can see more of the Design teams work over at the Little Scraps of Heaven Design team blog.  Hope to see you there!

Happy weekend to all!

Oh, and PS .... Here is what happens when you are pulling together a project and your little one is just TOO quiet :)

Monday's Little Scraps of Heaven Design team project

Happy Monday everyone.

Today is the first project of the week.  I decided to put my new digital scrapbooking skills to work.

I'm really happy with how this turned out and really can not wait to see it in print!

I've used the Easter Quackers collection from Little Scraps of Heaven designs.

I've used a free digital kit that I found HERE

Friday's Little Scraps of Heaven Design team challenge

It's FRIDAY!

That means it's the Little Scraps of Heaven Design team challenge day!

This week our challenge was to "Create a Scene".  The challenge was not limited to any type of craft (cards, layout, album, etc) which was helpful to me.  My specialty is two page layouts.

I've had my hands on the Whimsical World file from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs for a while, have wanted to use it, but haven't .. until now.

In addition to the cutting files I used provided by Little Scraps of Heaven, I managed to snag a free SCAL file from a friend and fellow design team member of mine, Janet, for the grass. Janet's blog is Create, Believe, Imagine at DreamScrapbooks.  Thanks Janet!

The paper was from a stack made by Die Cuts with a View titled "Whimsy".

Thanks for stopping by ... and don't forget that you too can have a chance to win!  You can post your project on the Little Scraps of Heaven FaceBook Fanpage for a chance at winning free files!  Good luck to all who enter.

Wednesday Design team project

I needed some inspiration this week.

I needed to do something different, get out of my comfort zone.

So, for today's project I decided to try a new folding technique (well, new to me anyway) call the Napkin fold.

For inspiration, I did what everyone else does (you do this right?)  I search the world wide web :)

Here is the AWESOME tutorial that I stumbled upon ... HERE

Here is the front of my card using this technique:

Untie the ribbon, and open it up to see this:

and continue opening to see this:

Super cute, right?  I hope that you'll give this technique a chance.

For todays design team post, I utilized the PEEKING RACCOON pattern from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.
